The TRA is opening an investigation to assess Batelco’s compliance with its obligations under its Frequency Licences and the Telecommunications Law.
Radio spectrum is a finite national resource. It is therefore vital that it is utilized efficiently and effectively. It is also fundamental that the use of spectrum does not cause harmful interference to the functioning of telecommunications networks. To reflect the importance of the radio spectrum, our rules prohibit the operation of networks or use of equipment which utilize frequencies without first obtaining a frequency licence from the TRA.
The TRA has reason to believe that Batelco may have used spectrum that was licensed and being used by another operator and/or used spectrum in a manner that could cause harmful interference.
